Brisbane Roar Coach Belinda Wilson is adamant every player in her Westfield W-League squad is treated equally. The experienced mentor stating reputation counts for nothing in terms of meeting her unwavering level of standards.

“Everyone-s the same -and they know that,” says Wilson. “When you step into the change room you-re a Brisbane Roar player and everything is based on performance.”

When discussing the challenge of coaching Brisbane Roar, Wilson admits that simply walking on the pitch is a challenge in itself. Each member of her talented squad having their own high expectations (herself included) of the teams' performance.

“To be faced with that kind of challenge every day, I find very exciting,” said Wilson.

The Roar Head Coach has developed within her coaching philosophy an effective way of approaching each individual game, then of course preparing for the week after.

Moments are replayed in her mind until she has dissected the game and reflected on what needs to be done. This will then determine what the week leading up to the next game entails.

Within her training exercises she will continually try and manipulate the problem experienced so that the team figures out a way to correct it for themselves.

“Having the athletes themselves fix the problem is what I consider most effective,” said Wilson. “I try and create that environment for them.”
