Where to watch your Caltex Socceroos in action this weekend

Caltex Socceroos forward Adam Taggart is on the hunt for more goals in Suwon Bluewings' K-League clash with Jeju on Sunday (kick off 8:00pm AEST).

Taggart - who was frustrated in last weekend's 0-0 stalemate with Gyeongnam FC - returned to the score sheet in Wednesday night's Korean FA Cup win over Gyeongju.

The 26-year-old moved to the K-League outfit from Hyundai A-League club Brisbane Roar in February 2019, and has scored eight goals in 18 outings for his new employers.

One of those efforts arrived in a 3-1 win over this Sunday night's opponents Jeju back in May, a match that saw the former Newcastle Jets and Perth Glory man deployed from the left of a front three.

Suwon coach Lee Lim-saeng has since fielded Taggart centrally, and he'll be looking for the Australian to fire if the Bluewings are to make up the four point gap between themselves and sixth-placed Sangju Sangmu, who occupy the last championship playoff position.

Sounders push on

Brad Smith's Seattle Sounders can bolster their bid for the Major League Soccer finals by taking care of Columbus on Sunday morning 9.30am AEST.

The Pacific north-west side are currently third in the Western Conference, but took a 3-0 beating from New York FC on Thursday morning with Smith an unused substitute.

Smith - who is on loan from Premier League club Bournemouth - has been involved in 15 of the Sounders' 18 MLS matches this season, registering four assists - one of which was for Kelvin Leerdam's dramatic 96th-minute winner in a 1-0 triumph over Vancouver last Sunday.

J-League heats up

Andrew Nabbout is beginning to find his feet after a stop-start J-League campaign for Urawa Red Diamonds, who travel to Vegalta Sendai on Saturday 8.00pm AEST.

Playing as a second striker, Nabbout has started the last two J-League matches for the two-time AFC Champions League winners (a 2-1 win over Sagan Tosu, and a 2-0 defeat to Oita Trinita).

Nabbout also got 45 minutes up front in the Red Diamonds' 2-1 victory against Ryutsu Keizai University in Wednesday night's Emperor's Cup win. The Reds are currently 12th in Japan, and they could leapfrog Vegalta - who lie 10th currently - with a win at the Saitama Stadium.

Meanwhile, Mitch Langerak and Nagoya Grampus are searching for their first win in six J-League matches when they face Shonan Bellmare at 7.00pm AEST on Sunday. They were also involved in Emperor's Cup action on Wednesday night and suffered a shock 3-0 defeat at home to NIFS Konoya.

Langerak's side made a bright start to the season, winning four of their first five league matches, but have slipped into eighth position and will need to pick up the pace in order to reach the AFC Champions League qualifying positions.
