Where does Goodwin's rocket rank among FFA Cup's best long-range bombs?

Adelaide United needed one of the great FFA Cup goals from Craig Goodwin to help see off APIA Leichhardt in the Quarter Finals on Wednesday night.

With scores level in the second half, the fringe Caltex Socceroo took it upon himself to unleash an absolute rocket into the top left corner.

It was a thumping strike that got us thinking back to some of the other best strikes from outside the box in the tournament's history.

How does it compare to these crackers?

EYES ON THE PRIZE: FFA Cup agony driving Adelaide United

Daniel De Silva v Rockdale City Suns (2018)

It might only have been from right on the edge of the area, but this was no less breathtaking.

The attacking midfielder announced himself to Sydney FC fans with a thumping hit to level the scores against Rockdale City earlier in this year's tournament.

Michael Zullo's corner was only cleared as far as the awaiting De Silva, who met the rising ball at pace and caught it tremendously well.

Theo Markelis v Kingston City (2015)

Hume City were the talk of the FFA Cup in 2015, playing an entertaining brand on the way to the Semi Finals.

But without some Theo Markelis magic, they might not even have reached the Round of 32.

The former Valencia youth player was on song in a Victorian qualifying encounter against Kingston City, his second goal in a 2-0 win a combination of poise and pure technique.

Rhyan Grant v Adelaide United (2015)

Is there anything more enjoyable than chipping the goalkeeper?

When it's a gloveman of Eugene Galekovic's quality, probably not.

Rhyan Grant can explain the feeling after doing exactly that in 2015, the Sydney FC full-back spotting Galekovic off his line and supremely executing a delicate dinked finish from long distance.

It was a special goal in a Round of 16 match which Adelaide United eventually won in extra-time.

Liam Boland v Central Coast Mariners (2016)

Arguably the most famous goal in the competition's short history has to be included on this list.

Then with Green Gully, FFA Cup specialist Liam Boland conjured an audacious, instinctive stoppage-time winner to sink Central Coast Mariners in 2016.

It was just the second time a Member Federation club had upset Hyundai A-League opposition, and could not have come in more remarkable fashion.

Danny Choi v Sydney United (2016)

Are you watching David Beckham?

If Boland's effort was from long-range, this was something else.

In a crazy game that saw Blacktown City come from two down to beat Sydney United 6-2, Danny Choi delivered an unthinkable goal that was to be replayed many times over.

From well inside his own half, the Korean winger hit a rasping first-time drive that bounced once before nestling in the net.

Bradley Robertson v Hakoah Sydney City East (2017)

There needs to a free-kick among the contenders and it's hard to look beyond Bradley Robertson's splendid strike for Hills United in 2017.

Though the result went against them in the end, there was at least cause to celebrate when left-footer Robertson curled into the top corner.

A glorious goal that sits comfortably among this group of stunners.
