Amini’s AGF chasing Europa League qualification

Mustafa Amini’s AGF can take another step towards next season’s UEFA Europa League when they host Randers in their Danish Superliga playoff clash on Monday morning (kick-off 2am).

After losing the first leg away from home 2-1 last weekend, AGF need a positive result in front of their home fans to stay alive. A 1-0 win would be enough to advance on the ‘away goals’ rule.

Amini, who has appeared 30 times for AGF this season, played the full 90 minutes in the first leg and is again set to play a key role for David Nielsen’s side.

Also in Denmark, Awer Mabil’s FC Midtjylland will play their final match of the league season at home against Esbjerg on Sunday morning (1am).

While Midtjylland will have to settle for a second-place finish in the league, they did win the Danish Cup last weekend, with Mabil scoring a crucial penalty in the shootout triumph.

In Austria, it’s also the final day of the season for James Jeggo and his Austria Wien side as they travel to LASK at 1am on Monday.

A win for the Vienna club could see them finish as high as third if Wolfsberg fail to take all three points against Sturm Graz.

In-form Taggart keen for more goals in Korea

Adam Taggart’s return to the Caltex Socceroos squad for next month’s friendly against Korea Republic should come as little surprise considering his excellent form for Suwon Bluewings in the K.League.

The former Hyundai A-League Golden Boot winner has netted five times in 11 appearances for eighth-place Suwon, who travel to Daegu FC on Sunday (kick-off 6pm).

Taggart is currently equal second on the goal-scoring charts in the K.League, one behind FC Seoul’s Serbian striker Aleksander Pesic.

In Japan, Mitch Langerak’s Nagoya Grampus will be out to keep the heat on league-leaders FC Tokyo when they host struggling Matsumoto Yamaga on Sunday (4pm).

Andrew Nabbout could miss the chance to add to his maiden J.League goal for Urawa Reds last weekend as he battles an injury sustained in the 3-2 loss to Shonan Bellmare last weekend.

If he does make a recovery, his Urawa side are at home against Sanfrecce Hiroshima at 3pm on Sunday.

Over in Major League Soccer in America, Brad Smith’s high-flying Seattle Sounders should have little trouble beating lowly Sporting KC when they clash at 8am on Monday.
