Westfield Young Matildas discover AFC U-19 Women's Championship qualifying fate

The Westfield Young Matildas' road to the 2020 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup is all set to commence following the draw for the first round of AFC U-19 Women's Championship 2019 qualifying in Kuala Lumpur.

Australia will meet Hong Kong, Afghanistan, Lebanon and Mongolia in a five-team Group A.

There are six groups in total - three featuring five nations and three featuring four - with the winner of each and two best runner-ups to advance to the second round of qualifying.

There, the eight remaining teams will battle for four spots at the AFC U-19 Women's Championship 2019, which doubles as World Cup qualifying.

Japan, DPR Korea and China PR, the best performers at the China 2017 edition, are already through to the tournament proper and will be joined by a to-be-confirmed host nation.

The Westfield Young Matildas, who finished fourth last year, will play their first qualifying matches from October 20-28.

The second round of qualifying is scheduled for April 2019.
