Last season was truly a remarkable campaign for Western Sydney Wanderers and now the challenge for head coach Dean Heffernan is whether his side can go one better.
The Red and Black recorded their best ever Westfield W-League points tally in 2019/20, their highest ever league finish of third and they qualified for the Finals Series for the first time in their eight-year history before falling to the might of Melbourne City, 5-1, in the Semi-Finals.
The highlight of a history-making campaign was without doubt their 5-0 demolition of their bitter crosstown rivals Sydney FC as they shot off to a stunning six-match unbeaten run.
Wanderers now must prove that momentous season was not a one-off. With a high turnover of players, that is easier said than done – but they have retained captain Caitlin Cooper and new recruit Teigan Collister is set for a breakout campaign after impressing with the Newcastle Jets.
