Westfield Matildas defender Alanna Kennedy has scored a stunning goal from almost the halfway line in America’s National Women’s Soccer League on Sunday (AEST).
Kennedy’s David Beckham-esque strike was the only goal of the game, helping Orlando Pride to a 1-0 win over Washington Spirit.
The incredible strike came in just the 11th-minute and she did it all herself.

Playing in midfield, Kennedy intercepted the ball just inside her own half, dribbled forward a few metres before noticing Spirit keeper Aubrey Bledsoe off her line.
The 23-year-old’s shot soared over the keeper’s head and into the net before she was swamped by her Pride teammates.
“[I‘ve scored goals like that] in training before but it hasn’t come up on the field so I was happy to get a goal,” Kennedy told ESPN.
"I thought we even could have had a few more goals, but happy that we were able to see the game out and get a clean sheet."
Kennedy, who played the full 90 minutes for Orlando, wasn’t the only Westfield Matilda in the match, with Emily van Egmond getting through 71 minutes for the pride before she was replaced by Brazilian superstar Marta.
The Pride are one of the form team’s in the NWSL, having suffered just one defeat in their last 10 games to sit in second spot on the ladder.
