Westfield Matildas star Sam Kerr nominated for BBC award

Westfield Matildas superstar Sam Kerr is in the running for yet another prestigious accolade.

The 24-year-old is one of five finalists for the 2018 BBC Women's Footballer of the Year.

Kerr has been nominated by virtue of her feats for Australia, Perth Glory and Sky Blue FC. 

She was top scorer in the US National Women's Soccer League with 17 goals and became the league's all-time leading scorer with 43, while also starring for the Westfield Matildas in a stellar 2017. 

The other nominees are England defender Lucy Bronze, Danish striker Pernille Harder, German midfielder Dzsenifer Marozsan and Dutch utility Lieke Martens.

The winner is decided by a public vote which closes on May 8, with the winner to be announced on May 22.
