The Westfield Matildas will face Japan in the final of the 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup on Saturday (AEST).
After squeaking through to the final 3-1 on penalties, following their 2-2 draw with Thailand, Australia watched on as Japan eased past China 3-1 in the second semi-final with Kumi Yokoyama netting a double.
Japan led 1-0 at half-time courtesy of a goal from Bayern Munich striker Mana Iwabuchi, before Yokoyama made the game safe after the break.
China scored a late consolation through Ying Li.
The Westfield Matildas drew 1-1 with Japan in their group stage encounter just last weekend.
It will be a repeat of the 2014 AFC Women's Asian Cup final, where Japan prevailed 1-0.
But the Westfield Matildas have enjoyed the better of the recent clashes, unbeaten in the last three match-ups with two wins and one draw.
The final is on Saturday morning at 3am [AEST].
