Defending Conti Cup champions Chelsea were looking to win their first bit of silverware in the 2021/22 season when they take on Hayley Raso and Alanna Kennedy's City side.

All three Aussies made the start for their respective clubs and it was Raso that inspired the first chance for either team, with the speedy winger combining with Georgia Stanway on the right side to send a cross into the box, Lauren Hemp picked up the resulting cross and fired her shot into the post.

The 33rd-minute mark saw Chelsea take the lead through none other than Sam Kerr. Ellie Roebuck and the City defence were unable to clear Guro Reiten's cross and Kerr capitalised off the error and found the back of the net in front of a sold-out crowd to give the Blues the lead going into the break.

City found the equaliser early in the second half, Stanway once again sent a dangerous ball into the box that found Caroline Weir unmarked on the penalty spot and the midfielder made no mistake from close range.

Manchester doubled their advantage just 9 minutes later, Hemp dancing around defenders and getting a shot off that Chelsea keeper Ann-Katrin Berger could only parry into the path of Ellen White who found City's second.

Weir closed out the scoring in the 69th minute, Stanway whipping in a corner that was unable to be cleared and the Scottish international rocketing her attempt into the roof of the net.

Raso and Kennedy claimed their first piece of silverware with Manchester City after making the move in the off-season.
