Adelaide United 1-0 Melbourne Victory

Both sides were desperate for a win to kick-start their campaign which made for an entertaining clash at Coopers Stadium on Friday night.

In the end it was a first-half goal from Ben Halloran and a couple of outstanding Paul Izzo saves which allowed the home side to snap their four-game losing streak.

Brisbane Roar 1-0 Wellington Phoenix

It was always going to take something special to halt Wellington's unbeaten run and it was a young substitute that delivered for Roar.

Dylan Wenzel-Halls may have only made fleeting appearances this season but he came up with the biggest moment of quality to clinch all three points and deny Phoenix a new club record.

Melbourne City 2-0 Newcastle Jets

City consolidated second spot on the Hyundai A-League ladder with a professional display to beat the struggling Jets, as Kate Jacewicz became the first female referee in Hyundai A-League history.

Craig Noone and Jamie Maclaren scored in either half to close the gap on the leaders Sydney FC to eight points, while the Jets have now gone seven games without a win. 

Western United FC 3-0 Central Coast Mariners

A fast-start by the home side was the difference in this one as United scored all three of their goals inside the first 21 minutes.

Besart Berisha finished with a brace, either side of a Kye Rowles own goal, to propel Mark Rudan's side back into fifth spot on the ladder.

Western Sydney Wanderers 0-1 Perth Glory

Bruno Fornaroli's early goal was enough for the visitors to register a club record sixth straight win on Tony Popovic's first return to Parramatta. 

The Wanderers thought they had an equaliser only for the VAR to rule out Kwame Yeboah's goal for handball as pressure continues to build on coach Markus Babbel.
