Dean Heffernan - Western Sydney Wanderers

Heffernan's Wanderers issued a statement of intent in December and enter the second half of the campaign arguably the team to beat.

After a 1-1 draw with Melbourne Victory, the Red and Black posted the result of the season so far in their 5-0 hammering of Sydney FC.

But just as impressive was their 4-0 win over Canberra a week later, a win that showed ruthlessness flows through the veins of Premiership-chasing Heffernan's squad.

ROUND 8: How to watch the upcoming round of the Westfield W-League
ROUND 7: Westfield W-League Team of the Week

How to watch

Rado Vidosic - Melbourne City

Vidosic helped City extend their winning streak to five games in December by overseeing wins over Sydney FC, Melbourne Victory and Perth Glory.

A 2-1 win over the reigning Champions showed City's class, while Vidosic's side won back derby bragging rights after a dominant display ultimately clinched by Yukari Kinga's late goal.

Another 1-0 display against Perth was evidence that after missing the Finals Series last season, Vidosic's well-drilled City will leave no stone unturned to ensure they are in the top four in 2019/20.

Jake Goodship - Brisbane Roar

The rookie coach steadied the ship in December after beginning his tenure in Queensland with two straight defeats.

Roar bagged victories over Canberra United and Adelaide United in consecutive weeks before earning a credible point away to Melbourne Victory in tough conditions.

A 2-1 win last time out against Newcastle Jets offered signs that Brisbane, after a four-match unbeaten run, are close to hitting their straps.

Jeff Hopkins - Melbourne Victory

Victory were given a unique test by returning to Westfield W-League action after their 2019 AFC Women's Club Championship exploits at the end of November and it is testament to Hopkins' astute management that the reigning Premiers find themselves within touching distance of the top four.

Victory held Western Sydney Wanderers to a 1-1 draw before City shaded them in the derby. A fighting 0-0 draw with Brisbane may be reflect upon as a valuable point come the end of the campaign, while their 2-1 triumph over Perth Glory in WA breathed new life into their 2019/20 season.
