Victory’s Dowie named PFA’s best for November

Melbourne Victory striker Natasha Dowie has been rewarded for her brilliant start to the Westfield W-League season by taking out the PFA’s Player of the Month.

Dowie has scored five goals from as many games as Victory have opened up a four-point lead at the top of the competition.

The Englishwomen’s impressive haul includes a memorable hat-trick in the 3-2 Big Blue win over Sydney FC in Round 4.

“It’s been a really positive start; we’ve set ourselves some ambitious goals for this season and it’s great to see that all coming together on the pitch,” Dowie said.

“It’s clear from the other nominations that while this individual honour is humbling, it’s been a real team effort at Victory – and that everyone is sharing the responsibility and setting high standards.

“I’d like to thank the PFA, the players who voted for me, my teammates and of course the other nominees who all could have easily been awarded this accolade.”

It’s no surprise Victory dominated the nominations, with Dowie beating out teammates Laura Alleway, Emily Gielnik and Christine Nairn – as well as Perth Glory’s Sam Kerr – for the award.

After a bye last weekend, Dowie and Victory return to action on Sunday with a clash against Brisbane Roar.
