Van Egmond completes move to Orlando Pride in NWSL

Emily van Egmond has signed with National Women’s Soccer League club Orlando Pride, the club confirmed on Thursday.

The Westfield Matildas midfielder has previously spent time in the USA over three seasons with Western New York Flash (2012), Seattle Reign (2013) and Chicago Red Stars (2014).

Interestingly, Van Egmond’s move will see her link-up with former Matildas coach Tom Sermanni, who is now in charge of the Pride.

“Emily is high-quality, creative midfield player with a determined and winning attitude, and the ability to get forward and score goals,” Sermanni told the club’s official website.

“She also brings vast international experience to our squad, even though she’s only 24 years old.

“With World Cup, Olympic and Champions League experience, she is another strong addition to the Pride. We are thrilled to welcome her.”

Van Egmond is coming off an impressive season in the Westfield W-League with Newcastle Jets where she netted four goals and claimed five assists in 12 matches.

She will join fellow Matilda Alanna Kennedy at the Pride, along with USA superstar Alex Morgan and Brazilian legend Marta.
