The squad

The Socceroos' squad will be announced in the coming weeks. Keep an eye on socceroos.com.au and the team's social media chaennels for the latest information.

The equation

The equation is simple. The Socceroos are three points behind Japan, four points behind Saudi Arabia, and take on these two teams in their final matches.

To qualify for a fifth consecutive FIFA World Cup™, Australia must finish either first or second in Group B.

A third-place finish would send the Socceroos to a play-off against the third-place team from Group A, followed by a single-leg intercontinental play-off on neutral territory against the fifth-best side in South American qualifying.

Australia are currently placed in third position, however, qualification for a fifth consecutive World Cup is still in their hands.

If Australia wins both remaining matches, they are guaranteed a top-two finish and a ticket to Qatar. Three or four points in the two matches and the Socceroos must rely on other results. Anything less than three points and Australia will be guaranteed to enter the play-offs.
