Ange Postecoglou might have found a ready-made replacement for workhorse midfielder Billy Celeski right under his nose - former Greek lower division player Andreas Govas.

The Melbourne-born midfielder, a VIS graduate, has been training at Victorian Premier League side Oakleigh Cannons, and is due to start a trial with Melbourne Victory on Monday.

Govas, 24, has been playing in the Greek lower leagues for the last five years - his clubs including Apollon Kalamarias, Kozani and Kavala before he spent last season with Kalloni FC in the third-tier. At one stage Govas was caught in a tug of war between Australia and Greece - ultimately playing for both countries at youth level - but has returned home to try and rejuvenate his career in the Hyundai A-League.

With Celeski this week finalising a move to UAE side Al Shaab, and continuing speculation surrounding Mark Milligan and Crystal Palace, Govas might have timed his run perfectly after six weeks of conditioning-based training under Miron Bleiberg at Oakleigh.
