Taggart's scoring run ends as Bluewings held to stalemate

Caltex Socceroos striker Adam Taggart could not make it three straight goalscoring K-League matches as Suwon Bluewings were held to a stalemate draw by Gyeongnam FC.

Taggart had netted in the Bluewings’ two previous road games in the Korea Republic but the home side slipped to eighth in the ladder after being frustrated by their 10th-placed opposition in this Round 18 clash.

The 26-year-old scored in the reverse fixture in Gyeongnam back in April, a 3-3 thriller, but there was no drama of the sort in front of 7,118 supporters at the Suwon World Cup stadium. 

The former Brisbane Roar, Perth Glory and Newcastle Jets striker led the line alongside Brazilian frontman Waguininho but the forward pair were denied by a stubborn visiting defence in a 0-0 draw.

Now without a win in four games, Suwon turn their attentions to the Korean FA Cup when they host National League side Gyongju Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power FC in the Quarter Finals on Wednesday, 8.30pm AEST.

Taggart has netted seven goals in his 11 starts and four substitute appearances since joining Suwon in February 2019.
