Sydney FC announce Tratt signing

Sydney FC have announced the signing of defender Jacob Tratt on a short-term injury replacement deal.

The 24-year-old will deputise for injured centre-back Ben Warland, who suffered a foot injury in October.

Tratt joins the Hyundai A-League outfit from Sutherland Sharks in the NSW NPL 1 but is no stranger to the Sydney FC set-up, having captained the club to a Foxtel National Youth League title in 2014 before being involved in the Sky Blues’ senior squad in the 2015/16 Season.

Tratt then joined the Wellington Phoenix, making 20 appearances in the Hyundai A-League 2016/17 Season.

He said he was delighted to have signed a deal with the “biggest club in the country”.

“I’m very happy to be back and to have all my family and friends around me, being family orientated, is a blessing,” Tratt said on Friday.

“To be able to play for the biggest club in the country and to be surrounded by family and friends, I couldn’t be happier.

“You can see that everyone at the club has purpose to what they are doing every day and you feed off that mentally.

“I would like to get some game time and show what I’ve got and eventually extend that contract.”

Sydney FC coach Steve Corica coached Tratt - and made him captain - at youth levels for the Sky Blues.

“Jacob is an excellent player and will fit into our winning culture and strengthen our defensive options,” Corica said.

“I’ve known him for a number of years now and he is a fantastic person who is fully deserving of this opportunity to be a part of our squad.”
