Stats preview: the AAMI Park problem City must solve in Melbourne Derby

The forever feisty Melbourne Derby is shaping up to be another fiercely-contested affair, but it's Melbourne City who enter needing to set the record straight.

City may have prevailed 2-1 when the two rivals met in Round 1 earlier this year, but since then their neighbours' fortunes have turned in staggering fashion.

Kevin Muscat's men have won six straight - their most commanding run of results since 2006 - while scoring an incredible 17 goals in the process.

That is one of several ominous signs for Warren Joyce. City have lost their last three against Victory at AAMI Park, and curiously, each of the past four instances of the fixture has ended with the nominal 'away' team as the winner.

Unbeaten Perth must snap horror Sydney FC run

They're top of the table and unbeaten in all eight games this season but Perth undoubtedly have a point to prove on Friday night.

Sydney FC head to nib Stadium on an eight-match winning streak against Glory, averaging four goals per game in that span.

Home fixtures have provided no comfort to Perth amid the one-sided recent head-to-head record: they are winless in the past six meetings between the pair in Western Australia.

Steve Corica will hope that dominance continues and Brandon O'Neill, who spent part of last weekend's win over Western Sydney Wanderers at centre-back, surely has a big part to play.

The midfielder boasts two goals against his former employers and is preparing to make his 100th Hyundai A-League appearance.

Roar aim to stop away day rot

The long journey across the ditch appears to have come at just the wrong time for Brisbane Roar.

John Aloisi's men have lost three on the trot away from home and have conceded exactly two goals in each of their last six on the road.

Equally discouraging for Roar is that Wellington Phoenix are full of confidence following two victories on the bounce.

These clubs have been closely matched in recent times, combining for four straight draws, although there is some hope for the Queenslanders at Wesptac Stadium.

They are undefeated in their past four ventures to the venue, winning once and drawing three times.

F3 Derby history on the line for Newcastle Jets

Sparks continue to fly on Sunday as Newcastle Jets aim to become the first team to win consecutive F3 Derbies.

Roy O'Donovan is back to boost those chances and should relish the chance to reunite with Dimitri Petratos, who leads the Hyundai A-League for chances created with 23.

As if the 5-1, 2-0 and 8-2 losses Central Coast Mariners suffered in this fixture last term weren't enough to concern Mike Mulvey, the ex-Brisbane boss will find little solace in his own record against the Hunter club.

Mulvey, yet to celebrate a win in charge of Central Coast, has accrued a lone victory, two draws and four defeats from seven clashes with Newcastle.

An upset in Gosford would, of course, lift the home side to within three points of their rivals.

There is no shortage of incentive on both sides.

Adelaide take imposing record into Wanderers showdown

Western Sydney Wanderers will move level on points with fifth-placed Adelaide United if they can overturn a terrible trend of results against the Reds in the final fixture of Round 9.

Markus Babbel's men head to Coopers Stadium with a lone victory in the past 10 instalments of this fixture and none in the last five.

They have, surprisingly, been more productive in meetings in South Australia - claiming a win and two draws from four visits - and should take heart from Adelaide's inability to find the back of the net in either of their past matches.

Whether Wanderers can pick themselves up from last weekend's deflating loss to Sydney FC and secure a second triumph in eight away days remains to be seen.

Brendan Hamill will certainly hope that is the case: the centre-back is set to appear in his 100th Hyundai A-League game.
