A 4-0 win over Adelaide United on the weekend - the club's biggest winning margin - sent a clear message that the Westfield W-League's newest team are no slouches in front of goal. Scoring two of those goals was Swedish international Louise Fors in a standout performance.
Fors has a sparkling resume for one so young, plying her trade in Spain and Sweden before heading down under to link up with the Wanderers in their inaugural season. The transition from European football to the heat of Australia wasn't the simplest of tasks, but the 23-year-old was looking for a new challenge when the opportunity to play in the Westfield W-League arose.
"When I came in contact with Western Sydney Wanderers, it felt like a great step after I had finished my season in Sweden," says Fors. "I wanted something new. It is always difficult at first when you come to a new club and league, but I have come in well with the team and found my role."
And found her role she has, as evidenced by her stunning brace against Adelaide. The midfielder has typically played a central role in previous years, but coming to Wanderers FC has allowed her to showcase her attacking prowess - a decision that's clearly reaping benefits for the club.
"I like it best to play in the role of attacking midfielder. I feel I get more out of my offensive qualities and I can use my technique to finish when in front of goal."
With Fors converting chances and the Western Sydney club in a rich vein of form themselves - only three points behind league leaders Perth Glory, despite sitting sixth on the ladder - it's understandable why the international believes Wanderers FC can go all the way this season.
"I think we have a great chance to get to the final. But it requires that we are 100 per cent focused every match for 90 minutes."
Whatever happens come the end of the season, the future looks bright for Fors. Her contract with the Wanderers is up at the end of January and she's just been signed by English powerhouse Liverpool for 2013. However, her career in the Westfield W-League is not over yet.
"I have just signed for a new club in Europe for next season. If I get a new option to contract in the W-League for next season, though, it's not impossible that I will come over again."
With any luck, we'll see the attacking abilities of Louise Fors showcased on Australian soil again for the 2013/14 Westfield W-League season.
