Tom Rogic was made to wait for title success over the weekend by a contender to his throne as Australia's biggest Scotland-based star.
But while Rogic missed out, another national team member did seal silverware over the weekend, and there was a welcome boost for a key Caltex Sooceroos attacker.

MACLAREN CLIMBS OFF SICK BED TO STUN CELTIC
Celtic's title party was postponed over the weekend thanks in part to a Jamie Maclaren goal that helped Hibernian seal a shock 2-1 win.
Dubbed 'The Wizard of Oz' by the club's Twitter account - a moniker previously reserved for Rogic - Maclaren ghosted in at the back post midway through the first half to net the opening goal against the league leaders.
It was his fourth goal from 11 appearances as he the striker continues to stake a claim for Caltex Socceroos recall.

Maclaren's vital impact was particularly impressive given his torrid pre-match preparation.
"I didn't travel with the boys to the team hotel because I was sick, I had a stomach bug. But I was in touch with the staff, saying don't rule me out," Maclaren told reporters.
"I was honest with the manager before the game. He didn't want me to let myself or my team-mates down so I told him I'd give him everything for as long as I could.
"He gave me trust and I gave it back. It's important to have a manager who believes in you and Neil does with me."
LECKIE'S RELIEF OVER DROUGHT-BREAKER
Mathew Leckie shared his delight at ending a long wait for a Bundesliga goal in Hertha Berlin's impressive 3-0 win at Eintracht Frankfurt.
The winger got on the scoresheet with a composed finish in the 78th minute of the away success, marking his first top-flight strike since September.
It was a deserved reward for a performance in which he also made a team-high four tackles and supplied three crosses.
"That was a hard-earned three points and it feels so good to have finally found the net again," Leckie told the club website.
"We were disciplined, even in the hot weather and scored at the right time.
"Now we can go into the final three games with real confidence."
JONES KEY TO CUP SUCCESS
At the other end of the park, Aussie goalkeeper Brad Jones produced a fine display to help Feyenoord to glory in their Dutch Cup victory over AZ Alkmaar.
The 36-year-old was a major factor in the 3-0 triumph, making six saves to his opposite number's four and keeping a clean sheet in the process.

That stable based helped Nicolai Jorgensen - a potential FIFA World Cup opponent with Denmark - Robin van Persie and Jens Toornstra to secure Feyenoord's second cup win in three seasons.
Jones has made 37 appearances in all competitions for the Dutch club this season, keeping 14 clean sheets along the way.
