Socceroos on the scoresheet: Magical Metcalfe, Maclaren & Mabil shine

Once again it was the City duo of Jamie Maclaren and Connor Metcalfe who drove Melbourne City to a comeback draw, while elsewhere Awer Mabil netted a worldie in Turkey.

In what was a top-of-the-table clash within the Isuzu Ute A-League Mens, Western United had taken a two-goal lead early inside the first half but a magnificent performance from Socceroo's Midfielder Connor Metcalfe and Socceroo Striker Jamie Maclaren allowed the reigning champions to scrape a draw away from home.

Connor Metcalfe the Socceroo who is set to link up with fellow Socceroo Jackson Irvine at second-tier German side St Pauli at the end of the season struck home late in the first half to give City a glimmer of hope.

Next, it was fellow Socceroo and City teammate Maclaren who netted to give Melbourne City the equaliser.

Maclaren produced a trademark finish which fired across United custodian Jamie Young, slamming right into the back of the net giving the away side a deserved equaliser.

Fellow Socceroo and City midfielder Marco Tilio was also impressive across the 90 minutes as he teed up City's first goal of the evening when his pass found its way onto the feet of Metcalfe.

The result wouldn't have been what Melbourne City head coach Patrick Kisnorbo wanted, but the 40-year-old will be proud that the comeback keeps them atop of the Isuzu Ute A-Leauge Men ladder 18 games in.

Maclaren, Tilio and Metcalfe next face Melbourne Victory in a blockbuster Melbourne Derby taking place at AAMI Park on Saturday 19th March with kick-off slated for 7:45pm.

Overnight Socceroo winger Awer Mabil scored an important goal in a 3-1 victory for his Turkish club Kasımpaşa S.K as they moved further up the Turkish league table.

The 26-year-old Australian produced an outrageous finish as his shot curled right into the top right corner from a freak angle to give Kasimpasa S.K the lead 26 minutes in.

The beautiful goal from the winger rounded out what was a complete performance in a great win for his Turkish club overnight and Mabil now has 3 goals in 5 games for Kasımpaşa S.K.

Mabil and Kasımpaşa S.K. are next in action on Saturday evening as they take on Yeni Malatyaspor who are currently last in the Turkish Super League, with kick-off set for 9:30pm
