The Socceroos are bound for Brazil after being given a rousing send off on Wednesday as they head to their date with destiny at the World Cup.
Fans flocked to Sydney International Airport early to get a good vantage point to see coach Ange Postecoglou and his 27-man squad and wish them the best at the tournament.
A huge media pack assembled outside the airport to get shots of the players as they strode off the bus, decked out in their new MJ Bale suits and a Socceroos scarf draped around their necks.
As the squad moved inside they were greeted by hundreds of fans, with the airport terminal also decked out with green and gold balloons and posters for the team.
Qantas staff and other supporters then formed a guard of honour as the entire squad and support staff headed toward the gate, with FFA chief David Gallop there to wish them the best as they left.
Before boarding flight QF27 midfielder Mark Bresciano, who is off to his third World Cup, had one last message for the fans.
"We just want to say a big thank you," he said.
"We've really felt the support since we've been here and now going to Brazil.
"Keep supporting us and hopefully we'll see many Aussies in Brazil...we're looking forward to it and hopefully we can do Australia proud."
The team's departure brought to an end a memorable two weeks in camp for the new-look Socceroos.
It started with Postecoglou announcing his preliminary 30-man squad a fortnight ago, before the players assembled on the NSW Central Coast to begin training.
The Socceroos boss didn't waste any time getting down to business, pushing the players to their limits in Gosford to get their fitness base up for the tournament.
After six days there, which included a fan day at Central Coast Stadium and civic reception, the side then shifted base to Sydney where the remainder of the squad arrived to round out preparations.
Monday night's friendly against South Africa gave the fans one more chance to wish the team well as they embark on a huge challenge at the World Cup.
The Socceroos will be among the first teams to arrive in Brazil and will get to their base in Vitoria on Thursday night (AEST).
A friendly against Croatia on June 7 is their last meaningful hit-out before the opening game of the tournament against Chile a week later.
