All eyes will be on AAMI Park come Friday night as free-scoring Melbourne City battle it out against a Western Sydney Wanderers outfit who are on a hot streak of their own. Wanderers sit in second spot ahead of this showdown after having enjoyed three wins on the bounce.

Mitch Duke has been the star man up front, with three goals in his last two appearances.

The visitors will have the added incentive of knowing they will go top of the A-League ladder for the first time this season if they overcome City by three or more goals. City meanwhile have been relentless with five straight wins and four consecutive clean sheets to show for what has been a purple streak for Patrick Kisnorbo’s side.

Jamie Maclaren is in the form of his life after he notched his 11th goal of the campaign in their 2-0 victory against leaders Central Coast Mariners on Monday night. The last meeting between these two sides ended 2-0 to City at Bankwest Stadium at the beginning of March with Maclaren helping himself to a brace.

Fast forward to Sunday, when Adelaide United will host Sydney FC at Coopers Stadium (kick-off 6.10pm AEDT).

The match will see Craig Goodwin, who has been instrumental for the Reds since returning in February, match up against  a backline including fellow Socceroo and Sydney FC stalwart Rhyan Grant

The Reds are on a five-game winning streak heading into their home clash with the Sky Blues. A 4-1 victory over Newcastle Jets in Matchweek 13 ensured Carl Veart’s side had no chance of slipping under the radar from this moment on; Adelaide are well and truly emerging as one of the teams to beat in 2020/21.

Sydney drew 1-1 with Perth Glory in the final game of Matchweek 13, after dominating the chances but lacking end product. Corica’s side will need to turn their attacking inefficiencies around quickly if they are to take it to a free-scoring Reds side with 15 goals from their last five games.

Aussies Abroad: Dougall, Rukavystya score, Mabil assists three and more!

Kenny Dougall and Brandon O’Neill will be the only Socceroos in action this weekend with an international break set to take place across the globe.

The lower English leagues will be one of the few professional competitions around the globe which will still be running this weekend.

This will be our chance to focus on Dougall as his Blackpool welcome Plymouth to Bloomfield Road on Saturday. Dougall’s first goal in English football arrived last week as he scored his side’s first goal in their 2-0 victory against Oxford.

His side’s recent run of form has seen them become outside favourites for the playoffs after a 10 match unbeaten run that dates back to mid-February.

Over in Thailand, O’Neill will be featuring in the final matchday for Buriram United as they host Police Tero on Sunday.

O’Neill’s side are also enjoying an amazing spell and are undefeated in their final 10 matches.

That profitable period has seen them consolidate second position as they gear up for a clash against 11th placed Tero.
