Socceroo player ratings

How did the Socceroos rate in Porto Alegre against the Netherlands? Here are our individual player ratings for the clash at Estadio Beira-Rio.

Socceroo man of the match: Mathew Leckie

Mat Ryan 7

Could’ve done better with the Dutch third goal. Otherwise solid and made some good saves late to deny a fourth to Holland.

Ryan McGowan 7

Was targeted by the Dutch as a potential weak link but stepped up despite playing in a position he’s not accustomed to, and he set up Cahill's wonder goal.

Matt Spiranovic 7

Composed in possession and could’ve scored in the first half but scuffed the chance.

Alex Wilkinson 7

Really solid at the back against world-class strikers.

Jason Davidson 8

Another eye-catching performance from the left back both defensively and in an attacking sense.

Matt McKay 7

Impressive across the middle of park as a replacement for the injured Mark Milligan.

Mile Jedinak  (Capt) 7

Kept his composure to score the penalty and lead the side consistently well in the centre of the park playing as a midfield destroyer.

Mark Bresciano 8

Another influential performance though he only last 50 minutes. Composed on the ball and worked very hard.

Tommy Oar 7

Subbed off in the second half, could’ve scored a third but opted to pass in the box. Overall better than his Chile display.

Matt Leckie 9

Again, another high energy display from a rising star of the Socceroos. Constantly troubled the Dutch defence.

Tim Cahill 9

Brilliant as a target man and scored the greatest ever goal in Socceroos’ history – another defining moment for the talisman of our national team.

Subs

Oliver Bozanic 8

Brilliant when he came on in the second half. Won the penalty, was composed on the ball and worked well within the game plan.

Ben Halloran 7

Another high tempo, aggressively attacking performance from the German-based striker.

Adam Taggart n/a

Had limited opportunities but ran himself into the ground.
