Signing news: Sydney FC secure gifted youngsters Zuvela and Flottman

Sydney FC have turned to youth to continue bolstering their squad, signing Patrick Flottman and Chris Zuvela.

The duo, both 22, have inked two-year deals with the Hyundai A-League champions, keeping them in the Harbour City until the end of the 2020/21 Season.

Flottman, who was a member of Sydney FC’s 2018 AFC Champions League squad, spent last season playing in Thailand.

Zuvela was part of the Sky Blues squad last season but spent much of it recovering from an ACL injury.

“We’ve kept an eye on Patrick since he left the club and have been very impressed with the way he has developed overseas,” Sky Blues boss Steve Corica said.

“We are delighted to be able to bring him back and I expect him to be fighting for a starting position which gives us great squad depth.

“Chris was showing extreme promise before injury curtailed his season last year.

“He is definitely someone we see as having a big future here. He has worked very hard to come back and is looking good.

“I expect him to give me some real headaches when selecting our midfielders this season and he will come into contention for a starting role.”

Both players were involved in Sydney FC’s National Youth League and National Premier League Men’s 2 Championships under then Coach Rob Stanton in 2016.

Flottman could play in Tuesday night’s friendly against St George FC at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, while he will also be part of the squad that travels to China for the clash against PSG.

Zuvela isn’t likely to be ready for a return to action until after the start of the Hyundai A-League 2019/20 Season.
