Signing news: Phoenix unveil latest Kiwi prospect

Bayern Munich’s move for Sarpreet Singh may be imminent but Wellington Phoenix have already accounted for the Kiwi sensation's potential departure by signing one of the biggest talents in New Zealand football.

Young forward Callum McCowatt, 20, has signed a 12-month contract with Ufuk Talay’s Phoenix, the club confirmed on Wednesday morning.

McCowatt was a standout in last season’s ISPS Handa Premiership, scoring 21 goals in 16 games for champions Eastern Suburbs and clinching a hat-trick in their 3-0 grand final win over Team Wellington.
