Signing news: Kyah Simon among five players return to City

Westfield Matildas attacker Kyah Simon and veteran keeper Melissa Barbieri are among five re-signings made by Melbourne City on Thursday.

Along with Simon and Barbieri, the club also secured Junior Matilda Nia Stamatopoulos and Championship-winning duo Rhali Dobson and Tyla-Jay Vlajnic.

“We’ve secured an important group of core players that have played an influential role for this club over recent season,” coach Rado Vidosic said.

“It’s an exciting time for the club, we have a good mix of experienced internationals, as well as a bunch of up-and-coming talents that are not only the future of the sport and our club, but also have the ability to play an important role for us this season.”

Simon returns for her third season in City blue and will link with the club once her NWSL commitments with Houston Dash are over.

City have already signed Westfield Matildas duo Emily van Egmond and Emma Checker, as well as Young Matildas Chelsea Blissett and Sofia Sakalis.
