Signing news: Davidson extends Glory stay

Jason Davidson believes something special is unfolding at Hyundai A-League leaders Perth Glory.

It is why the 27-year-old defender had no hesitation in re-signing for Tony Popovic's side for the 2019/20 campaign.

Davidson joined the West Australians on a one-year deal in July 2018, his first venture into the Hyundai A-League, having previously played professionally in Portugal, England, the Netherlands, Croatia and Slovenia.

He has since been an integral part of the club's Premiership tilt, tallying the most touches of any Glory player throughout the season and supplying four assists and two goals.

“I want to continue to be a part of something special,” Davidson told Perth's official website.

The success that the club is striving for is something that I want to help achieve and I feel fortunate to be a part of a team unit that is so strong on and off the pitch.

“It’s great to have come back to play in Australia and hit the ground running with a team that is playing so well.”

Meanwhile, Glory Football Director Jacob Burns said the 22-times capped Caltex Socceroo is flourishing under Popovic's tutelage.

“Jason has been in great form and is clearly thriving under the guidance of Tony Popovic and his coaching staff," Burns told the club website.

"He has made a significant contribution to the team’s success this season and we look forward to his continued performances as we build for the future.

“As with many of our players, we beat off stiff competition from other clubs when we initially signed him and again now when we sought to retain his services.”
