Signing news: Croatian midfielder Jertec joins Western United FC

Western United FC have added experienced Croatian midfielder Dario Jertec to their roster.

The 34-year-old has become the club's fourth international signing, joining Alessandro Diamanti, Panagiotis Kone and Filip Kurto.

Jertec - an eight time Croatian U-21 international - has spent the majority of his career in his native country, including for league giants Dinamo Zagreb and Hajduk Split, and most recently for Varaždin - the town where he was born.

He has also played stints in Saudi Arabia, Slovenia and Kuwait.

“We believe Dario will bring added quality, experience and leadership to our football team,” said United boss Mark Rudan.

“We look forward to seeing Dario challenge himself and his teammates as we create competition for places across the park.”

Western United take on Hyundai A-League opposition in friendlies against Adelaide United (September 21) and Sydney FC (September 27) in Ballarat.
