Signing news: Aussie midfielder Inman returns home to join Roar

Midfielder Brad Inman is the latest player confirmed as part of Robbie Fowler's squad overhaul at Brisbane Roar.

Inman, born in South Australia, has spent the last seven seasons playing in England's League One and has become Fowler's seventh new addition this week.

He played his youth football at Premier League club Newcastle United before going on to play 194 times in League One - scoring 28 goals - in stints at Crewe Alexandra, Peterborough and Rochdale.

A former Scottish youth international, the 27-year-old was called into the Caltex Socceroos squad for the friendly against England in 2016 but didn't make his debut.

“Being Australian, it’s good to come home and it will be a great challenge and a new opportunity,” Inman told Roar's official website.

“When I spoke with Robbie about his plans, straight away I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of."

Inman's signing is the latest in a busy week for Roar, which started on Monday with the announcement of Irish striker Roy O'Donavan.

Fowler added three new faces on Tuesday in Scottish defender Tom Aldred, Welsh winger Aaron Amadi-Holloway and English defender Macaulay Gillesphey, a former teammate of Inman's at Newcastle United.

“I’ve played against a few of the new boys and I was at Newcastle with Macaulay too,” Inman explained.

“I’m starting at a new club but I feel comfortable already. I know all the boys are really looking forward to getting started.”

Roar, who officially begin pre-season training next week, also added versatile defender Jake McGing and midfielder George Mells to their list on Wednesday.
