Signing news: All-time leading scorer Keogh commits to Glory

Andy Keogh says he never contemplated playing anywhere else after signing a new deal with Hyundai A-League leaders Perth Glory on Wednesday.

Glory confirmed the Irishman has inked a one-year contract extension that will keep him at HBF Park until the end of the 2019/20 Season.

“I’m delighted to have extended,” Keogh told Glory’s official website.

“I never had any thoughts about leaving Glory and it’s fantastic to be a part of this team and what is an exciting time for the club.

“I’m looking forward to continuing to score goals and hopefully helping the club to secure some silverware.”

Keogh first joined Glory in 2014 after an illustrious career in the UK where he played for Wolverhampton Wanderers, Leeds United and Millwall.

He has made 115 appearances in the Hyundai A-League and is the club’s all-time leading scorer with 52 goals, 12 of which have come this season.

“Andy’s goalscoring record speaks for itself and he is rightly regarded as one of the very best strikers in the competition,” Glory Football Director Jacob Burns said.

“Proven goalscorers are a rare commodity, so it’s no surprise that plenty of other clubs were competing for his signature.

“His goalscoring form this year has been outstanding and we look forward to seeing him continue that over the next year as part of what we are confident will be a strong and successful Glory side.”

Glory are currently six points clear at the top of the Hyundai A-League ladder with six matches of the regular season to go.

They are next in action on Friday, March 15 with an away clash against Adelaide United.
