Signing news: Galloway joins Melbourne City

Melbourne City have signed fullback Scott Galloway from Adelaide United.

24-year-old fullback Galloway enjoyed an excellent season for the Reds after signing in pre-season following a successful trial.

He scored the Hyundai A-League 2018/19 season's first goal - a stunning long-range hit against Sydney FC in October's 1-1 draw.

“I’m looking forward to joining up with Melbourne City next season," Galloway said.

"It is an ambitious club with a talented group of players, that I’m confident is on the cusp of achieving success.

“I know a few of the players already and know it’s a great environment there. I’m excited to continue to develop my game and show the City fans what I can do.”

Adelaide United also confirmed the exits of strikers Baba Diawara and Jordy Thomassen on Wednesday.

Senegalese forward Diawara, 31, joined Adelaide in February 2017 after plying his trade in La Liga, and for Portuguese outfit Maritimo.

But his time in the City of Churches was plagued by injuries, and he managed just 23 matches, scoring seven goals.

Dutch forward Thomassen, 26,  has completed his loan spell with the Reds and returns to Eredivisie side De Graafschap.
