Central Coast Mariners defender Trent Sainsbury and Melbourne Heart defender Curtis Good have both been suspended for one match.
Central Coast Mariners defender Trent Sainsbury has been suspended for one match for his challenge on Melbourne Victory-s Fabio.
Sainsbury made the challenge in the 62nd minute and was given a direct red card as the leaders fell to a 2-1 defeat.
The Independent Match Review Panel today announced Sainsbury would be banned for one match, without the option for the player or his club to appeal the decision, as the challenge was considered to be serious foul play.
The Mariners will therefore be without Sainsbury for their all-important home meeting with Wellington Phoenix on Saturday night.
Additionally, Melbourne Heart defender Curtis Good will be suspended for one match after receiving two cautions in Saturday-s match against Newcastle Jets.
Although the Referee failed at the time to issue Good with an indirect Red Card, this is an administrative error only and does not impact on the consequences of the player accumulating two Yellow Cards in the same match.
The Heart will have to make do without the services of their young defender for Friday-s home encounter with Gold Coast United.
