Round 7 preview: Western Sydney Wanderers v Adelaide United

Adelaide United are edging nearer to their first-ever trip to the Westfield W-League Finals Series and a win against Western Sydney Wanderers on Sunday would push the Reds tantalisingly close to making club history.

Adrian Stenta's side have taken the competition by storm in the new coach's maiden season in charge, winning three of their five matches to sit in fourth place, but the Reds cannot let their form slip now if they are to reach the promised land.

Western Sydney have not recorded a three-point haul since their 2-1, Round 2 triumph over the Newcastle Jets and Dean Heffernan's team will be determined to snap a three-game losing streak to keep their season alive, only a year removed from their own first historic appearance in the finals.

Adelaide slipped up in their last outing, falling 1-0 to Melbourne Victory in the City of Churches, and the Red and Black will be desperate to capitalise in any doubt creeping into the minds of the travelling side at Marconi Stadium.
