Round 3 Preview: Newcastle Jets v Sydney FC

Sydney FC made a dream start to their 2020/21 campaign and the two-time Westfield W-League Premiers will want to send another message of intent when they face the Newcastle Jets on Friday.

Ante Juric’s side put their 2020 Grand Final sorrow behind them with a 3-0 triumph in their season-opening Sydney Derby against Western Sydney Wanderers in Round 1.

Princess Ibini stole the show against the Sky Blues’ bitter rivals, scoring twice, and the Westfield Matildas attacker will  no doubt be searching for more goals in the double header at McDonald Jones Stadium, ahead of of the Jets-Wanderers A-League match.

Ash Wilson’s Jets opened their campaign with a 2-1 reverse against the Wanderers with Tara Andrews on target, and Newcastle’s youthful line-up will need to pull out all of the stops to collect their first points of the season in the Hunter.
