Report: Ikonomidis conjures last-gasp winner for Glory in five-goal thriller

Chris Ikonomidis sensationally scored in the 95th minute to give Perth Glory a dramatic 3-2 win over a plucky Central Coast Mariners at nib Stadium on Sunday.

Having netted the opener in the 12th minute, Ikonomidis popped up again at the death to alleviate Perth's frustration and send Tony Popovic's men four points clear at the end of rebel Female Football Round.

Central Coast had twice erased the league-leaders' advantage, first through a Tomi Mrcela own goal in the first half and then when Aiden O'Neill sumptuously responded to Shane Lowry's header.

But after losing Kalifa Cisse to a late red, the Mariners were dealt a cruel third defeat of the campaign.

Perth were up and purring in the early stages as Neil Kilkenny's dinked pass and Joel Chianese's cushioned touch freed Ikonomidis to cap off a stylish opener.

The hosts remained well on top until defender Mrcela turned past Liam Reddy in attempting to deal with a harmless Andrew Hoole cross.

Lowry livened up a tentative start to the second half when he met Kilkenny's cross with a commanding header in the 61st minute, only for parity to almost immediately be restored.

Young midfielder O'Neill, on loan from Burnley, brilliantly picked out the top-left corner with a fine first-time shot that looked certain to have given the Mariners a point.

But the experienced Cisse was dismissed for a second bookable offence in stoppage time and that gave rise to the frantic final few moments, culminating in Ikonomdis' composed finish from Kilkenny's left-sided delivery.
