Reds predicting big things from new Danish striker

Adelaide United assistant coach Filip Tapalovic hopes recruit Ken Ilso can score plenty of goals in the Hyundai A-League.

Ilso, 31, signed a one-year deal with the Reds earlier this month after spells in the Eredivisie, Bundesliga, as well as in China, Singapore and Malaysia.

Tapalovic said he wanted the former Denmark youth international to provide leadership at Adelaide, whose top scorer in the A-League last season was Ryan Kitto with seven.

"We expect that he shows his experience and his quality on the pitch," the Croatian told www.a-league.com.au.

"He can be a role model for our young players, play good games, have a good attitude and I hope he can score a lot of goals for us."

Ken Ilso

Ilso became the latest Danish recruit at Adelaide, joining former Melbourne City defender Michael Jakobsen after Johan Absalonsen impressed last season.

Tapalovic said he had good experiences with Danish team-mates, having featured for the likes of Schalke and 1860 Munich during his playing career.

"I played my career with a lot of Danish players and they are very good players, very good people," he said.

"It's very easy to handle them, they are not arrogant, they are very good workers, they are funny, a little bit different to Germans, they have a little bit more fun than Germans.

"But ex-players I've had good experience with them, we had a good experience with Johan, personally and what he gave us on the pitch, and Jakobsen we know from City."
