Casey Dumont confessed her love for facing penalties after producing one of the all-time great Westfield W-League goalkeeping displays in Melbourne Victory’s win against Brisbane Roar.
Captain Natasha Dowie netted a double in Victory's 3-2 triumph at Dolphin Stadium in Redcliffe, but that was only half of the story as Jake Goodship’s side peppered the visitors’ goal during the rookie head coach’s first game in charge.
Tameka Yallop and Indiah-Paige Riley did breach Victory’s resistance but a string of outstanding saves from Dumont clinched all three points in Round 2.
The 27-year-old custodian denied her former club on eight occasions in an end-to-end encounter, including a spot-kick save from her ex-teammate Yallop.
“I know she goes that way but I love penalties and I love being able to read a player,” Dumont said.
“It also comes down to luck sometimes.”

Dumont’s highlight reel display included a one-handed reflex save from Celeste Boureille’s stinging drive and a rapid recovery to make a double parry from Hayley Raso and Boureille’s attempts.
Those heroics helped wipe away a 3-0 Round 1 Big Blue defeat against Champions Sydney FC as Jeff Hopkins’ side had only a four-day turnaround between away matches.
“I’m not going to say personally but, from last week to this week, it’s almost a whole new team together,” she added.
“I think nerves got to us in the first game and [here] we really showed what we’re capable of as a team.
“But [we showed] individual brilliance too which help teams win games, like Dowie’s finish and some of my saves.
“Everyone did their individual job which then helped as a whole.”

Next up for Victory is a history-making trip to compete in the first ever AFC Women's Club Championship in Yongin, Korea Republic.
The 2018/19 Premiers will face Korea Republic side Incheon Hyundai Steel Red Angels, Jiangsu Suning of China and Japanese outfit Nippon TV Beleza between November 26-28, before returning to home soil for Round 4.
“It’s such a quick turnaround,” Dumont said.
“Our pre-season was brutal to make sure that we’re able to back up for this with a day’s rest.
“Also, we get to verse top level teams and then come back even fitter come fourth round.
“It’s exciting. What an opportunity to be able to play Champions League finally.”
