Re-live the Magic of the Cup: six of the best from South Melbourne

A tight and hard-fought Westfield FFA Cup quarter-final was expected on the Gold Coast as City hosted PS4 NPL Victorian powerhouses South Melbourne.

No one would have predicted what would ensue over the next 90 minutes.

Chris Taylor’s men dashed any hope Gold Coast had of becoming the first Queensland team to reach the Cup semi-finals, after recording a thumping 6-0 win at Cbus Super Stadium.

The visitors raced to a 2-0 lead inside the first eight minutes, with star striker Milos Lujic firing home a superb strike inside the first 120 seconds before Matthew Millar got his name on the scoresheet.

It was 3-0 before the break as former Brisbane Roar Youth captain Jesse Daley got in on the act.

South Melbourne didn’t let-up after half-time as Lujic, Stefan Zinni and Millar all scored, with the final goal coming after a howler from City keeper Matthew Stein.
