Postecoglou vows to keep attacking

Brisbane Roar manager Ange Postecoglou has promised his side will continue to attack against Central Coast Mariners in the major semi-final second leg.

Brisbane Roar manager Ange Postecoglou has promised his side will continue to attack against Central Coast Mariners.

Brisbane go into the second leg of their Hyundai A-League major semi-final 2-0 ahead, but Postecoglou is not tempted to sit back and defend, claiming such a tactic would not suit his players.

"We don't really need to change anything," Postecoglou said.

"It's a game where there is a lot on the line but, from our point of view, it's still a game we're going to try and win, like we always do."

"The fact we already have a two-goal lead becomes irrelevant."

"This situation forces you to still be attacking and we play better when we're trying to win games and score goals."

"It's a game of football and we try and win every game of football we play and that's what we'll be doing tomorrow."

Brisbane and Central Coast also met in the major semi final last season, with the Roar winning 4-2 on aggregate.

Brisbane went into the second leg last year with a 2-0 lead, but this time around the second leg will be played at the Mariners' home ground in Gosford.

However Postecoglou does not expect that will affect Central Coast.

"They'll play their normal game, they've got plenty of time to get the two goals they need," Postecoglou said.

"They handled it pretty similarly last year, so I don't expect too much to change."

"If the game wears on and they haven't got a goal, then they may have to change their approach and if we score they'll definitely have to."

Postecoglou is mindful of how crucial an away goal could be for his side.

"We know if we can score a goal away from home it's going to make it hard for them," he said.
