Poll results: fans select which imports Sydney FC should use in the ACL

There’s just over two weeks until Sydney FC begin their 2018 AFC Champions League campaign, with the clubs set to finalise their squads in coming days.

With the Sky Blues currently having four imports on their books, coach Graham Arnold has the tough decision of which classy foreigner he leaves out of the three visa spots allowed for the ACL.

We asked fans to vote for which trio Arnold should select from Serbian star Milos Ninkovic, Polish international Adrian Mierzejewski, Dutch defender Jordy Buijs and Brazilian marquee striker Bobo.

And the results are in! Check out who made – and missed – the cut below, according to the fans.

  • Mierzejewski, Bobo and Ninkovic– 46.7%

The three attackers got the nod with the fans, earning 46.7% of the vote. That would mean defender Jordy Buijs would be the unlucky man to miss out.

It will be interesting to see if that’s the way Arnold goes, especially considering Buijs’ superb combination with Alex Wilkinson, as well as a potential lack of depth at the back after Seb Ryall left the club.

The rest of the results:

  • Bobo, Ninkovic and Buijs (leaving out Mierzejewski) picked up 22.9% of the vote.
  • Bobo, Buijs and Mierzejewski (leaving out Ninkovic) was next best with 16%.
  • While Ninkovic, Buijs and Mierzejewski (leaving out leading scorer Bobo) had 14.4%.

Tomorrow we’ll reveal who the fans chose as Melbourne Victory’s three imports for their ACL campaign.
