'He’s hungry to test himself on this stage again': Rudan pleased as Gulley returns to Wellington Phoenix

Justin Gulley has a point to prove on the Hyundai A-League stage after signing for Wellington Phoenix today, says coach Mark Rudan.

Gulley, 26, graduated through the Phoenix academy back in October 2015 and went on to make eight appearances in the Hyundai A-League.

He has since plied his trade for Team Wellington, recently captaining the side at the FIFA Club World Cup last December.

"Justin is a fantastic boy, on and off the pitch and his attitude falls in line with the hard-working ethos we have created here at Wellington Phoenix," Rudan told the club's official website.

"He’s hungry to test himself on this stage again and I’m really looking forward to seeing his progression within the squad."

Gulley will wear the number three kit for Rudan's side and could feature when Phoenix travel to Perth Glory this Saturday evening.

He also joins a core nucleus of talented home-grown players who have bolstered Wellington's charge up the Hyundai A-League ladder.

"I feel I have plenty to prove, having played here before but I really want to give my all and move on to that next level that I know I’m capable of playing at," he told the club's official website.

"Having played in the FIFA Club World Cup, I know I have plenty to offer the coach and the team as I plan to return the faith shown in me.

"I can’t wait to get started."
