Phil Neville names England squad for Westfield Matildas match

Lethal striker Jodie Taylor is among the familiar faces in a 24-player England squad selected to take on the Westfield Matildas in London on October 10 (AEST).

Experienced stars Lucy Bronze, Steph Houghton, Fran Kirby and Fara Williams are also included for what shapes as a good test for Australia.

Both nations are preparing for next year's FIFA Women's World Cup in France, where they are expected to be among the challengers.

England's match against the Westfield Matildas at Craven Cottage follows three days after their meeting with Brazil in Nottingham.

Lionesses head coach Phil Neville talked up the quality of both opponents.

"We are looking forward to two challenging matches on home soil, against strong opposition both ranked in the top ten in the world," Neville said.

Taylor has had stints with Melbourne Victory, Sydney FC and Melbourne City.

"Both games form a crucial part of our World Cup preparations so it's important in selecting this squad that we are doing so with a firm eye on the future and next summer's tournament."

Prior to the England clash, the Westfield Matildas meet France in Saint-Etienne on October 6 (AEST).

Alen Stajcic has named an 18-player roster for the twin friendlies headlined by Lisa De Vanna, Clare Polkinghorne and Elise Kellond-Knight.
