Perth appoint McFlynn in dual managerial role

Perth Glory is delighted to confirm that Terry McFlynn has been appointed as the club's Westfield W-League and Academy Manager.

The 38-year-old's previous role was Football Director at Sydney FC, a club he also served with distinction as a player, chalking up over 200 appearances between 2005 and 2014 and leading the side to two Hyundai A-League Championships and one Premiership.

Glory's Football Director Jacob Burns believes that McFlynn's appointment is another indication of the club's commitment to securing sustained success in every area.

"It's a huge coup for us to have brought someone of Terry's calibre on board," he said.

"He enjoyed great success both as a player and during his time as Sydney FC's Football Director and his appointment is a key part of our plan to take our W-League and two-star Academy operations to the next level.

"We are assembling a team,of experienced, like-minded people who will all add value to help drive improvement across the board."

McFlynn himself, meanwhile, is relishing the prospect of getting stuck into his new role.

"I'm really excited by the challenge and am looking forward to working closely with Steven McGarry, Richard Garcia and Bobby Despotovski in the Academy and W-League space," he said.

"I spoke to Jacob [Burns] a few months ago and he outlined the direction the club is going in and I immediately wanted to be a part of that.

"I have family here in the West, so I've spent a lot of time here and now it's a new home for me.

"Everyone at the club has made me feel very welcome and there are definitely exciting times ahead."
