Adelaide United – Ken Ilso
Adelaide’s Danish forward broke his Hyundai A-League deadlock with a predatory brace in the Reds' 3-1 win over Wellington Phoenix on Saturday.
In doing so, the 31-year-old became the second Adelaide player to score multiple goals away from home this month after Craig Goodwin’s double against the Central Coast Mariners.
Ilso struck with each of his shots on target – a textbook glancing header and poacher’s finish at the back post.
Brisbane Roar – Avraam Papadopoulos
The Greek veteran has been a steady influence in the Roar back-line so far this season.
Papadopoulos was the only Brisbane player to accrue a passing accuracy greater than 75% in a 2-0 win for John Aloisi's side, and held Melbourne City at bay with six clearances.
Central Coast Mariners – Aiden O’Neill
The on-loan Burnley starlet made a big impact in a deeply positive performance from Mike Mulvey’s men in their 3-2 loss to Perth on Sunday.
O’Neill scored a sensational goal to restore parity midway through the second half for the visitors and made a team-high 52 passes.
Melbourne City – Harrison Delbridge
Brisbane Roar proved too strong for Melbourne City in Saturday night’s clash, but one visiting player to hold their own to impressive effect was Harrison Delbridge.
The 26-year-old made 11 recoveries in City’s 2-0 loss, the second-most of any defender from Round 5.

Melbourne Victory – Storm Roux
Victory’s rampaging right back was an ever-present in his side’s huge Big Blue triumph.
Roux made one effort at goal and accrued a passing accuracy of 78%, while only Keisuke Honda (94) had more touches on the ball than the full-back’s 84.
Newcastle Jets – Glen Moss
Were if not for the Newcastle custodian, the Jets’ wait for a Hyundai A-League win this season may well have been extended past Friday night’s clash with Western Sydney Wanderers.
As it turned out, the veteran goalkeeper was instrumental in helping Ernie Merrick’s side off the mark.
Moss finished with five saves for the round, the most of any other goalkeeper, and maintained a save percentage of 100%.
Perth Glory – Chris Ikonomidis
Chris Ikonomidis’ season at Perth Glory continues to go from strength to strength.
The young attacker tallied his second stoppage-time winner of the season in Sunday’s 3-2 defeat over Central Coast Mariners, and made it four Hyundai A-League goals from five appearances.
Moreover, the 23-year-old made a joint team-high five touches in the opposition box and finished with a passing accuracy of 70%.
Sydney FC – Adam Le Fondre
The English marksman has now scored five goals in five Hyundai A-League games for the Sky Blues.
Only three times in A-League history has any player scored more in the opening five rounds.
Wellington Phoenix – Mandi
Mark Rudan’s Wellington Phoenix were beaten 3-1 in their own backyard by Adelaide United on Sunday, but the performance of their Spanish midfielder was one positive to draw.
Mandi opened his Hyundai A-League account to give the Nix first-half lift off and made a team-high 55 passes for the Kiwis.
Western Sydney Wanderers – Josh Risdon
The Caltex Socceroos flyer emerged with huge credit to his name despite the Wanderers’ 2-0 loss to Newcastle Jets on Friday night.
Risdon created four scoring chances on the night, the equal most of any player, and made a team-high 12 recoveries in an action-packed performance.
