Adelaide United – Michael Jakobsen
The Reds might have been on the wrong end of the scoreline against Sydney FC but not through a lack of effort, especially from defender Michael Jakobsen.
The Danish international completed a round-high 76 passes from just 87 attempts, while of the 17 duels he contested, Jakobsen came out on top in 13 of them.
Impressive stuff from Adelaide’s dependable centre-back.
Brisbane Roar – Jamie Young
You would shudder to think how Roar’s season would be if not for the performances of their classy keeper.
Against Melbourne City on Friday night, Young made a round-high five saves.
That makes it six games this campaign where the gloveman has made five or more saves in a match, more than any other keeper in the Hyundai A-League.
Central Coast Mariners – Andrew Hoole
His side may have endured another cruel defeat, but Hoole was certainly a threat against Wellington Phoenix.
The creative attacker not only scored a goal but also had two shots and made the joint second-most crosses of any Mariners player.
Melbourne City – Ritchie De Laet
Is there anything the Belgian star can’t do?
Incredibly thrust into a striking role by coach Warren Joyce, De Laet put in a superb display and scored the decisive goal in the 1-0 win over Brisbane Roar.
He amassed a shot at goal every seven touches at AAMI Park, the second most of any player with a minimum of 20 touches.
Melbourne Victory – Terry Antonis
Another superb display from the Victory playmaker.
Antonis not only got on the scoresheet in the win over Newcastle Jets, but had five shots at goal, second only to the Wanderers’ Kwame Yeboah.
Antonis also made an impressive nine passes into the final third.
Newcastle Jets – Steven Ugarkovic
It was an exceptional all-round display from Ugarkovic, who probably didn’t deserve to be on the losing side at AAMI Park.
The Jets midfielder made 13 passes into the front third and created one scoring chance for his side.
He also had three shots at goal, a pretty good number for a deep-lying midfielder.
Perth Glory – Diego Castro
What more can be said about Glory’s sensational Spaniard?
Castro inspired his side’s amazing come-from-behind win over the Wanderers on Sunday, grabbing Glory’s opening goal.
He also made five passes into the final third and had three shots at goal.
Sydney FC – Siem de Jong
Could Sunday’s clash with the Reds be where de Jong begins to consistently show his true class?
The Dutchman arguably had his best game in Sky Blues colours and scored a sublime free-kick to send his side on the way to victory.
He also had a team-high four shots and contested 18 duels at Jubilee Stadium.
Wellington Phoenix – David Williams
Williams is enjoying somewhat of a career revival on his return to the Hyundai A-League this season.
Thriving under new boss Mark Rudan, Williams had 10 touches in the opposition box, the second most of any player.
He capped a brilliant display with five shots – and the winning goal – in the 3-2 triumph over the Mariners.
Western Sydney Wanderers – Kwame Yeboah
Without marquee men Baumjohann and Riera, Yeboah stepped-up big time for Markus Babbel’s troops.
The 24-year-old was directly involved in all three of the Wanderers’ goals in the loss to Perth, scoring one and setting up the other two.
It’s the first time since February 2013 (Youssouf Hersi) that a Wanderers player was involved in that many goals in a single match.
