O'Neill excited by the future after extending Sydney FC stay

Brandon O'Neill reaffirmed his commitment to Sydney FC while hinting at a possible future abroad after inking a two-year contract extension.

O'Neill, 24, has signed on with the Sky Blues until the end of the Hyundai A-League 2020/21 Season.

The former Olyroo joined from Perth Glory in 2015 and follows long-serving defender Rhyan Grant in agreeing to a new deal with the reigning Premiers.

"I've had a fantastic four seasons already at Sydney FC and can't see myself at any other club right now," O'Neill said.

"This club is built for success and we're in a great position under Steve Corica.

"I do have ambitions to play at the very highest level and that's a huge target for me, one that Sydney FC will do everything in their power to help me with.

"I'd do anything for this club and the people who belong to it, we have such a great family culture and that's hugely important to me."

Sky Blues boss Corica welcomed O'Neill's signature as another well-timed boost heading into the final third of the regular season.

"It's been a fantastic couple of days. Brandon staying on board is another huge deal for us," Corica said.

"Brandon is a superb footballer and an excellent ambassador for Sydney FC.

"Both he and Rhyan are the future of this club and I'm proud to have them on board."

O’Neill has racked up 120 appearances for the Harbour City club and has started every match this term.

He was an integral part of the team that won the Grand Final under Graham Arnold in 2017.

Sydney FC can close to within two points of Hyundai A-League leaders Perth Glory when they visit Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.
