NPL Wrap: Flores scores from inside own half for Adelaide City

Former Hyundai A-League star Marcos Flores hasn’t taken long to show his class in the National Premier League in South Australia, scoring a stunning goal from inside his own half on Saturday.

Flores, a high-profile signing by Adelaide City for this season’s SA NPL, came up with the incredible strike in the first half of City’s 2-0 win at Oakden.

Ironically, the goal came against Adelaide United Youth, the same club where Flores rose to prominence in the Hyundai A-league and took out the Johnny Warren Medal.

The Argentine won possession just short of the halfway line before spotting the Reds’ keeper Cameron Cook well off his line and unleashing a simply scintillating volley.

The goal has already drawn comparisons to that of Manchester United legend David Beckham who scored from halfway in a match against Wimbledon in the 1996/97 EPL season.

In the Hyundai A-League, Melbourne Heart marquee Orlando Engelaar also scored a similar goal in a match against Central Coast Mariners at AAMI Park in the 2014/5 Season.
