Noone and Maclaren's FFA Cup show rolls on for City

Craig Noone is relishing the lethal partnership he's forming with Jamie Maclaren at Melbourne City.

English winger Noone, who signed for City in June, continued his hot form for Erick Mombaerts' side with a double in their 3-0 win over Western Sydney Wanderers in Wednesday night's Quarter Final.

Noone profited from Wanderers goalkeeper Daniel Lopar's first half gaffe to open the scoring and after Maclaren doubled the advantage with a neat near-post flick, the ex-Premier League man  iced the contest late with a wonderful curling strike.

Noone and Maclaren have scored all of City's FFA Cup 2019 goals with four apiece.

"We spend a lot of time in training together crossing and finishing, or Macca (Maclaren) making runs in behind. That's part and parcel of being on the training ground and getting to know each other," he told FOX Sports after the match.

"I think we've gelled well, and let's hope it continues."

Noone added: "We do a lot of it with the style the manager wants us to play.

"We're creating a lot of chances. And on the training ground, we're staying after doing extras as a team, not just individually.

"Everyone wants to stay out and do extras and its paying off."

2016 winners City now face NPL Queensland side Brisbane Strikers in the Semi Finals, after they beat Moreland Zebras 3-2.
